Description
Rice flour is made by grinding rice (usually broken rice), is gluten-free, and is rich in fiber, B vitamins, calcium, and phosphorus, which are beneficial for digestion, heart health, and skin health. To prepare, wash the rice, soak it for 3 to 6 hours, dry it, then grind and sift until it becomes soft and uniform.
Benefits of rice flour:
• Gluten-free: An excellent substitute for wheat flour for people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity.
• Digestive health: Due to its fiber content, it helps improve digestion and reduce intestinal problems.
• Skin and hair: Helps improve skin brightness (as a mask) and strengthens hair.
• Traditional medicine uses: Beneficial for diarrhea, relieving thirst, intestinal wounds, and as a strengthening food.
• Low fat: Suitable for weight loss and dietary plans.
How to prepare homemade rice flour (main steps):
- Soaking: Wash the rice (preferably high-quality broken rice) and soak it in lukewarm water for about 3 to 6 hours (or even up to 12 hours).
- Draining and drying: Drain the rice and spread it on a clean cloth to remove moisture (it is better if the grains are not completely dry and retain slight moisture for easier grinding).
- Grinding: Place the dried rice into a grinder until it becomes fully powdered and fine.
- Sifting: Pass the resulting flour through a very fine sieve to separate coarse particles.
- Final drying: Spread the sifted flour again on a cloth to completely remove moisture and prevent mold.
Important notes:
• For delicate pastries such as rice cookies, sifting should be done several times.
• Store rice flour in a sealed container in a dry, cool place (or refrigerator).
